Ryan grew up in Hudson, OH and played baseball at Kent State University in Kent, OH and Gordon College in Wenham, MA. After playing at Gordon, Ryan transferred to the University of Akron and began his coaching career while earning a BA in Fine Art (Painting and Drawing). During college he worked at Strike Force Academy in Hudson, OH and coached for the Diamond Boys Baseball Club 11u-15 teams.
Upon graduation, Ryan moved to California to get married in 2015 and started working for Elite Baseball as the Director of Player Development. He created and oversaw the pitching division while connecting with the companies that were developing the latest technology in the baseball industry. Ryan was an early adopter in mobile ball tracking systems and would travel to local high schools to collect data and analyze players.
Ryan left Elite and began coaching at JSerra Catholic HS in San Juan Capistrano as the Pitching and Tech Coordinator in 2018. He was responsible for overseeing and implementing throwing protocols program-wide and implementing new technology into development. By 2019, Ryan and a small team of developers had integrated radar and camera technology that went viral on social media and garnered the attention of 10 MLB organizations and dozens of college programs.
Ryan was offered two positions in the Fall of 2019, a MiLB Pitching Coach role with the Los Angeles Angels and Research and Player Development for the Chicago Cubs. He ultimately chose the Cubs and moved to Arizona to work at the Sloan Complex full time. In March of 2020, Ryan left the Cubs to begin working at BaseballCloud, the industry leading voice in baseball and software data analysis.
He is currently the VP of Innovation for BaseballCloud, a company that helps make sense of your training and game data. Ryan is responsible for creating two data visualization products, BallR and PitchR, that are used by multiple MLB teams and College programs. His experience in the bullpen spans from Little League players to Major League starters and has in depth knowledge of all types of baseball technology and data. Ryan works with players at the amateur and professional level and holds private group session for movement, mobility, and strength.
Ryan lives in Irvine, CA with his wife, Alexis, and two girls, Raegan (4), and Norah (newborn).
